| "caisson (sandbox chronicles vol7)" | |
| a caisson is a retaining watertight structure used to work underwater on the foundations of bridges, dams, or to repair ships. the first documented cases of, and deaths from, decompression sickness (also known as "the bends") were associated with the use of pneumatic caissons bridge-building projects, and similar applications of the technology in mining. in my mind, these men were among the first casualties of the military-industrial complex's requirement for blood to keep its gears lubricated; this mix is dedicated to them and all the military service members that have lost their lives in iraq. this is the last chapter of the sandbox chronicles as i am leaving for home; may all who go to war in the desert and mountain wastelands return safely as well. |
