Looked to the underground party scene in LA as a means to blow off steam from graduate work in chemistry. Wanted to be more involved, so with a friend (Frozen Horse, excellent ambient DJ) formed a DJ crew. Picked up CDJs and a mixer, let loose on Beatport. Still have a lot to learn, but thankfully I belong to a supportive, friendly community who are willing to talk shop and help out a n00b.
