About Dance music can often be a journey for any one artist alone, some can stick to one particular pigeon hole and encourage the development of such a scene for most or in fact of all their professional lives, there are others however, that embrace all its facets and are both fit for and passionate about exploring all of its possibilities. Stuart Donaghy is one of those artists and has so far managed to cut out an already healthy looking living from doing just that alone.

Stuart first discovered dance music at the age of 16 in 1996 and it was clearly love at first sight, within a matter of years, in 1999, Stuart began mixing selections of Trance and Hard Dance. Looking back at those exciting, yet nervous days of uncertainty when everybody wanted to be a DJ and every man and his dog had a set of 1210s, Stu played his first set in a common room at Chichester College, part of a selection of learning sessions organised for young music students at the College and taught by South Coast based underground pioneer Matt Handy.

Taking this as his first step on the way to a much larger adventure, Stuart began busying himself with the production of mix tapes and CDs of varying genres and getting them circulated to local party promoters, his intention to play for as many free parties, pubs, bars, clubs and up and coming brands as possible to garner a reputation for himself as the only three key things he truly wanted to be recognised for at this early stage keen, reliable, professional and of course, to provide all the ingredients to make the very foundations shake of any party he played at.

Quickly building a CV of guest slots and appreances, Stuart fashioned himself a to-do list of some of the UK and Ibizas biggest parties and went travelling around to watch and learn how the big boys do it, Pete Tong, Paul Van Dyk, Judge Jules, Ferry Corsten, Marco V, Lisa Lashes, Andy Farley, The Tidy Boys, the very pioneers of our generations thriving club scene. He took in parties such as Creamfields, Homelands, Global Gathering, Gatecrasher, Slinky and Godskitchen all of which were quite literally the forerunners of the early millennial clubbing phenomena, to observe, note and soak up.

It was on this journey that Stuart discovered his thirst for promoting and on meeting Mud Club Manager and Owner Harvey Bailey in his sleepy coastal home town of Bognor Regis that Stuart began a so far successful working relationship as promoter and resident at a club that has built a reputation for attracting some of the finest headliners in todays ever expanding clubbing universe.

As a result of this, Stuart has had the pleasure of sharing a booth with such prolific artists as Mr C, Judge Jules, Vinylgroover, Alex Kidd, Andy Whitby, Cally Gage, Billy Daniel Bunter, Jonathan Ulysses, Chris Coco, Smokin Jo, Anne Savage, Rob Tissera and thats just the short list.

Now, in 2008 Stuart is still pushing new boundaries in the music he is mixing and developing an informed love of Ableton and is currently enjoying the early stages of what looks set to be a healthy production career, with his first track already in production. Still holding his own at The Mud Club, Stuart is currently behind two of his own carefully developed brands High & Hard Velocity and presently can keep a crowd rocking with a range of Hard Dance, Trance, Electro House or a progressive two hour set consisting of all three, this being the signs no less of the well sharpened talent that he has become from the teachings of a journey that has lasted ten years and is ever continuing with each passing weekend.
