For Andy, it started back in 98 when he first heard dance music on radio 1, listening to Judge Jules, Pete Tong and Dave Pearce on the weekly weekend shows. By 2000, Andy decided to get into djing, realising he had a keen interest, mainly in trance music. By 2002 he was confident and after dj comps in his local area of Middlesbrough he, along with 2 others, put his own night on. The night, named Sonic Impact, was ran in Spensleys Emporium, Mbro and was a success however, due to funding problems there wasnt a second. In 2004 Andy formed a back to back partnership with Jamie P, playing at XS @ The Arena. Mbro with Alex Kidd, and the Annual Shap Hard Midsummer Mayhem, Penrith in 2005 and 2006. But due to differences in musical style they went separate ways. In 2005 Andy started his first residency at One More @ Pacific Bar, Mbro which ran right through till Christmas that year and in its time was successful. Other nights include Phuture @ Sanctuary, Mbro in 2006, XS @ Basement, Mbro in 2006; Shine @ Basement, Mbro in 2006, NRG @ Walkabout, Mbro in 2006. Now in 2007 Andy is studying Bsc Media and Music Technology at The University of Teesside and is program manager of VPA radio, a project ran by the students of the music tech class. Along with this, Andy now has a keen interest in music production and is close to finishing his first track. For Andy Mac, the future is bright. |
