Micky first started DJing in April 2007, when he bought himself a pair of Pioneer CDJ-1000MK3s. His main influences being Alf Bamford aka Technikal, and Kym Ayres. At the time Alf was producing a new style of high energy UK Hard Trance, and this is what sucked Micky in. These tracks were weapons of dance floor destruction, and Micky wanted to play them.
After about a month or so Micky had a nice collection on tunes and decided to put himself out there. He recorded "Future Music" demo mix, and started sending it out. Future Music was a perfect way of showing Micky's style of DJing. This landed Micky a few gigs in his home town of South Shields at the towns biggest club Eivissa. Also Micky entered several DJ competitions. One being "Xposed Hard Dance" in Manchester. The next round was a live comp in front of an audience. Out of the 52 qualifiers Micky took the title and won the competition!
Micky had a few gigs here and there, but nothing really took off until he and a few friends started a new clubbing brand in Newcastle called "Distorted".
Distorted was and still is Newcastle's hardest night. So adapting his style to the new way was needed, and Harder sets were played. Moving though in Hardstyle! Distorted was a great way of networking and meeting other promoters on the scene. This also landed Micky gigs with other brands in Newcastle including: Hostile, Love Juice, and VICE Club! playing alongside Paul Maddox, Smurf, Bass Generator, Mikey B, Rascal, The Sickest Squad, and more.
After the Distorted vs Judgement Day gig back in June 2009 Micky took a short break from the scene, but that wasn't for long. A new brand in his local town of South Shields appeared on the horizon with the name of "Absolution". The past few months have been great fun. With Micky meeting some great people like Keith Marlow and Shane Anderton, Garl & Hyde. Micky is now resident for Absolution and is soon due to start a residency at Whitley Bay's newest night "Chemystry", and he can't wait to get started!!! |
