Born from the underground.... my first few years spinning were with all my homies in the underground house party scene - basically just a fancy way of saying ghetto parties.
We didn't care about having our music in fancy clubs with big lights, lasers, and some superstar DJ. All we wanted was a dope dj, some dope music and a dope sound system. And that's what we got.
So years later I'm now playing in the club scene trying to make a name for myself. If you ever hear me out, don't make an immediate judgement. The Los Angeles Underground has influenced my sound way more than I like to admit. Every record, every snare hit, every beat got scrutinized. Sets and open decks were rare, so everytime you heard someone play out you knew that they had weeks worth of practice behind that single set.
It was pure perfection.. and I was surrounded by so many intelligent motherfuckers, that my music became a victim and just got smart. Throw my love of old school hip-hop into the music and you end up with this funky ass sound that I can only describe as Bumpin-Dark-Progressive-Techy-Techno-Ill-Funk. |
