| Since I made "Snowfall", I have experienced major changes in my life - three friends died unexpectedly, my longtime partner moved away (though we are still together!), and I've been overtaken with a general sense of loneliness and exhaustion as a result of growing and coming into my own as an adult. Whereas my selection on "Snowfall" was sentimental, "Snowfall 2: Distancing" is much more contemplative. While making part 2 I tried to choose pieces that describe my life at this particular moment, which is unfortunately in a bit of a rough spot. I remain optimistic however, as I am making new friends and becoming truly independent. The tracks on this installment speak to my attitude on life - though currently dark, there is always light that shines through, even if it is fleeting and it is important to embrace that light while it is here so as to not forget what makes life beautiful. Musically, the selections here are a bit darker; drone oriented tunes that carry a glimmer of hope throughout. Furthermore I decided to dig deeper, playing tracks by lesser known ambient artists. I also tried to pick tracks that retain sounds that made "Snowfall" so popular. Technically, I wanted to edit tunes a bit more while not overstating my presence - I wanted to let the music speak for itself. Overall, this mix is "Snowfall"'s darker counterpart and a mix parallel to my life currently. Not just a mix for "sitting around watching the snowfall to", "Distancing" is a mix to sit and marvel at how far you've come; forgetting about how far you have to go - enjoying the moment in all its beauty. As a bonus I have included a second mix. This is a collection of some of my favorite songs during winter. These tracks are perfect for a long drive or for simply sitting around and listening to.
