Calvin L. Stuart was born and raised in Washington DC, in the heart of Adams Morgan. So happy to be a Dad, he adopted his DJ name from his first born son who is named Ka’Von.
Very deeply keen on the Hip-Hop culture, he was a Breakdancer and Graffiti artist which flowed into DJ’ing. When DJ Kavon was learning to DJ, he emulated other dj’s scratches and blends then tried his own. He was always going to the Cap Center to See Public Enemy, Whodini, Doug E Fresh, and Run DMC and study how Terminator X, Grandmaster D, Chill Will & Barry Bee, and Jam Master Jay would rock the turntables.
He helped start a group called Concrete Jungle in 1990. A promoter saw them perform at a club and asked them to be the opening act for Mint Condition, at Ft Stewart military base, Hinesville GA. They also opened for Mary J Blige, Tupac, Chubb Rock, Rare Essence, Redhead Kingpin, Bubba (formerly of Today), Ex-Girlfriend, Coolio, Mc Breed, Angie B(formerly of 357),and 2 Hype Brothers and a Dog.
In 1994, a friend that worked for LaFace Records asked Concrete Jungle to move to Atlanta to produce a Demo to shop to record labels. At the time, Atlanta was best location in building a strong music industry career. While in Atlanta, they put together a demo at Bosstown Studios( where Outkast recorded their first single” Players Ball”). Negotiations fell through and Concrete Jungle was disbanded. Dj Kavon decided to move back to DC for a fresh start.
In 2003, working with SoundBlast entertainment, he helped produced local artist Rotelli Wars. From there he started his own entertainment company, Dj Kavon Entertainment. Under his own management, he has played at Club 55( Wash.DC), The Mirage (Wash DC), Foxy Playground (Wash DC), Club Heaven & Hell (Wash DC), Public House (National Harbor, Oxon Hill Md, and Rosa Mexicana (National Harbor, Oxon Hill Md)
Dj Kavon’s love of music, blending, and creating different sounds to entertain the crowd has resonated throughout the east coast. At the present time, he is running his own mobile DJ services.
